Sharing the Good News Through Art

Central Arts

The heavens declare the glory of God,
and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.
— Psalm 19:1

God is the creator of all things visible and invisible; and God created each of us in His image. One aspect of that image is creativity. At Central Presbyterian Church we believe God gave us the ability to be creative, in particular with music and visual arts. Over the years we have sought to celebrate the creative arts with Central Arts. We are revived this ministry in 2024.

In the spring of 2024 Central Presbyterian partnered with the Ellis County Youth Art Show to provide a place for teenagers to showcase their visual art. For one week young artists’ works were displayed for the public to come and see.

On June 1, 2024 Central Presbyterian welcomed Dr. Lynnette McGee to play an organ recital on our Austin Opus 809. Dr. McGee serves on the organ faculty at California State University, Fullerton, and is Music Director at First Presbyterian Church, Fullerton, where she serves as principal organist, conducts the Kirk Choir and Handbell Choir. Dr. McGee earned her Doctorate of Musical Arts in organ performance from Claremont Graduate University where she was awarded the Music Fellowship and the CE and Bertha Harsh Fellowship. She also holds degrees in organ performance from California State University, Fullerton, where she graduated with highest honors and was inducted into the Phi Kappa Phi and Pi Kappa Lambda honor societies.
