MUSIC

The Chancel Choir

Approximately 20 adults participate in the Chancel Choir at Central Presbyterian Church. Choir is not only a place where worship and music-making happen, but is a space for friendship and welcome. The Chancel Choir leads the Traditional Worship service each Sunday, singing in a variety of styles.

Accompanied by our historic Austin Pipe Organ, the choir encourages the congregation to find its own voice in the singing of hymns, psalms, and spiritual songs as is the church’s heritage in the reformed tradition.

The Chancel Choir meets Wednesday evenings in the sanctuary for rehearsal from 7:00 - 8:30 pm. They also gather on Sunday mornings at 10:00 am for a brief warmup rehearsal before worship.

Membership in the choir is open to all who enjoy choral music and who desire to serve the church in a uniquely intimate way. Singers, no matter what level of experience, are encouraged to pursue the choral arts as a means of broadening and enriching their faith. In addition to Sunday services, the Chancel Choir also provides opportunities to perform larger works for Christmas and Easter.

Handbell Choir

The Jubilate Ringers provide music for worship services and special programs in the church and community, such as the popular Bethlehem Revisited event each December. The Jubilate Ringers perform a range of exciting and challenging music and is open to all adults with some music reading experience. They rehearse on Wednesday evenings from 5:45 – 6:45 pm in the handbell room, located in the church’s basement.
